Shatarupa Sarkar, a PhD student involved in the EXTEMIT team, participated in February 2026 in the international training course “Introduction to RNA-seq and Functional Interpretation,” organized by the EMBL European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). The five-day workshop took place from February 9 to 13, 2026, and focused on the analysis of RNA-seq data and their biological interpretation.
Only 34 participants from around the world were selected for the program based on a letter of motivation and recommendations. The training also included presentations of the participants’ research activities in the form of short “flash talks.” Shatarupa Sarkar presented her doctoral thesis topic as well as side projects focused on RNA-seq analysis and the use of RNA interference in the protection of forest ecosystems.
Participation in the training provided new professional experience, international contacts, and the opportunity to share the research results of the EXTEMIT project within an international scientific community.
