Dr Amit Roy, a distinguished member of the EXTEMIT team, recently participated in multiple COST Action meetings, where he presented his groundbreaking research and engaged in fruitful networking with fellow scientists. His presentations focused on the molecular underpinnings of tree-fungal interactions, specifically examining the role of extracellular vehicles (EVs) in the forest ecosystem.
The meeting in Hamburg (June 10-13, 2025) marked a significant milestone for Dr Roy and Dr Sellamuthu (from the EXTEMIT-K G2 team), who shared the latest findings on the virulence of fungal pathogens and host responses in Norway Spruce trees. Through a combination of metabolomics, transcriptomics, and EV profiling, his research sheds light on how fungi interact with trees, offering valuable insights into improving forest health and ecosystem management.
The second meeting in Crete, Greece (Sept 3-5, 2025) provided another opportunity for Dr Roy to engage with leading experts in the field. His participation fostered discussions on innovative approaches to studying plant-pathogen interactions and the potential applications of EVs in biocontrol strategies.
Nevertheless, Dr Roy’s active participation in these EU COST Action meetings not only advanced scientific knowledge but also facilitated meaningful collaborations that will further enhance understanding of forest ecosystems and plant health management.
