The 39th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Chemical Ecology (ISCE) was held in Prague, Czechia, from July 14 to 18, 2024. This marked the second time Prague hosted the ISCE meeting, the first being in 1996. In honor of this legacy, the event adopted the slogan "Chemical Ecology Returns to Prague." The meeting's symposia encompassed a broad spectrum of topics within chemical ecology, addressing diverse life forms from microorganisms to humans. Key areas of focus included chemical communication and animal olfaction, insect–plant interactions, organic synthesis of natural products, biochemistry, molecular genetics and genomics, and applied chemical ecology.
The event brought together leading researchers, practitioners, and students in the field of chemical ecology to exchange ideas, present groundbreaking research, and foster collaborations. The theme of this year’s meeting was focusing on novel discoveries in chemical signaling, eco-evolutionary dynamics, or practical applications of chemical ecology in agriculture and forestry. The G team (EXTEMIT-K) members attended the conference and presented 4 posters based on the findings from EXTEMIT-K.
In addition to the scientific sessions, G team attendees had the opportunity to participate in various social and networking events, including a welcome reception, a farewell cocktail party, and excursions to Prague's city center, historical castles, and the famous Pilsner Urquell brewery. A post-meeting field trip to Czech forests affected by recent bark beetle outbreaks was also organized, providing practical insights into applied chemical ecology.
Overall, the ISCE 2024 meeting in Prague was a significant event that brought together leading scientists in the field of chemical ecology, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas across a wide range of topics and helped G team to present their scientific findings and foster international collaborations for excellent research endeavors.
