EXTEMIT-K informal scientific meeting similar to traditional “Pherodays” meetings of SLU/LU was held on April 16th till April 17th, 2019, in the University Forest Establishment Kostelec nad Černými lesy. The School Forest Enterprise in Kostelec nad Černými lesy is a university farm of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU). The SFE serves for holding various social events as conferences, seminars, teaching or weddings.
This meeting was organized for experts and members of the EXTEMIT-K research team including Ph.D. students. The goal was by informal way get to know each other, learn what colleagues are working on now, getting feedback on the current project and overall enjoy the time spent together. A total of 32 people attended the meeting, of which 23 people presented their research. The check in was at 8:00 a.m. and the event itself began at 9:00 a.m. with welcome and introduction speech of Prof. Fredrik Schlyter and Dean of the Faculty Prof. Marek Turčáni. The presentations were divided into three sections. Section T-level (Tree level), L-level (Landscape) and G-level (Gene). Between individual presentations there were coffee breaks. Each presentation including discussion should take no more than 15 minutes.
Guest presentation had William B. Walker III, associate Professor at SLU. He has a professional experience with expertise in molecular biology, including 4 years with genomics/transcriptomics bioinformatics-based data analysis. He´s currently working as a transcriptomics and molecular biology research leader, managing his own projects as well as supervising several colleagues.
